Winter Turns Into Spring

A journey into recovery from child abuse and neglect

Welcome to Winter Turns Into Spring

For a very long time my life was like the darkest of winter. I was scared of never experiencing the sunshine of spring.

My name is Sylvie. I am a victim and survivor of child (sexual, emotional and physical) abuse and neglect.

This website is for  everyone (all genders) who have been victims of Child Sexual Abuse/Incest, physical and verbal abuse, and who are deeply suffering from its many  effects - addictions, homelessness, mental and physical illnesses, and many more.

"Winter always turns into spring" is a Buddhist guidance I held on to, even when I didn't believe my winter could ever turn into spring but, it did!

Then, winter came back, as it naturally does, and in those moments of suffering, I didn't think highly of myself, until I practised Mindful Self-Compassion and (slowly) learned to hold myself with love, kindness and compassion during my difficult times. It is an ongoing journey.

Recovering with Self-Compassion entails shifting our mind from wanting to get rid of the pain, and judging ourselves for this pain, to creating a safe space within us, and loving ourselves through Life. It is learning to become our own BFF.

Every journey in recovery is different for each one of us, I share my journey with you, hoping you feel less alone. Take what resonates with you and leave the rest.
